Good bye wobble, hello balanced life

A brilliant article about MS & balance issues!

Makes me realise how well I am doing in pilates & know that what I’m doing in the gym is paying off!

I never thought I’d see the day that I’d loose my balance! After years of working with horses I had incredible balance! It wasn’t until I broke my leg that my balance started to shake & then my MS saw how funny it is to make me wobble when I walk so messed up my balance!

Well, tongue out to u MS cause yesterday I rocked pilates & the power plate!
Today I shall do it all over again just to prove that I am stronger than my MS, for right now anyway!

Cog Fog made worse by pain

Having this from my Fibro & my MS! Jeez, double whammy man!

Makes it worse when I’m in pain (which unfortunately is all the time) & when I’m tired!
Being in pain makes me tired, being tired means I can’t handle the pain as well!
That’s where I am today! 😐

Just keep smiling! We’ll get there eventually!  😄

Hello to my lovely followers of this little blog!

Next Saturday myself & 8 incredible friends will be getting ready to run, walk, push, hop, skip or jump The Color Run in Birmingham (UK)

This year I am fundraising for a wonder charity called MS-UK
As I’m sure your aware I have MS!
I was confirmed my diagnosis on the 11th August 2010 so to celebrate *yes celebrate* my 5 years I wanted to do something different whilst also raising money for a wonderful charity & raise awareness of this debilitating disease!

In 2011 myself & my partner organised a sponsored firewalk so this should be a walk in the park, quite literally for 5k with the added bonus of being covered in paint every 1 kilometre! Sounds very messy to me! If you know me properly you’ll know that I don’t like mess but I do like a challenge!

Ever so slightly addicted to Pilates

It’s true, it has to be said, my name is Vix Edwards & I’m a Pilates addict!

I say it out loud but this is nothing I want to fix!

It certainly is!

I look forward to every class, I’m happy to be there.
It challenges me, I challenge myself.
It annoys me, I get frustrated.
I quietly release my tension, I take a breath, I relax & then I’m calm!
This is how Pilates helps me!

When you have found your passion do not let it go! Stick at it, practice more often & reap the bennifits!

Kate, my Pilates instructor is on a well deserved holiday now for 2 weeks so today we had Hannah.
I get on with Hannah really well & love her energy. Her Pilates is different to Kates class but different is good!

My ‘hundred’ was much stronger today, the practicing at home is paying off!

Goals are set

I Seriously am feeling so proud of myself!
At home I’ve been practicing different exercises that we do during Pilates, in particular the stretches shown above & today I nailed it!

I managed to hold the stretch on the right (‘Tree’) for nearly 45 seconds & I felt as though I was really strong! The stretch on the left I find difficult to stay strong because I have to switch my focus as I go from ‘tree’ to this one. I managed to hold it for 30 seconds today with a bit of a wobble! Okay, I doubt I looked as elegant as the pictures above but I look better than the very first time I was shown how to do them!

Not only that but I was doing these stretches on a ‘power plate’ this morning and for me, that is impressive!

I guess to some it doesn’t seem much doing these stretches but, for me & many MS’rs (people with multiple sclerosis) balance is a major issue. When I started attending the Pilates classes in February I had hardly any balance & very little co-ordination, this is one of my main reasons I started going to Pilates. Since then my core muscles needed for balance have been getting stronger.  

I’m loving seeing the changes in me physically & mentally! 

 

My body is getting stronger, slimmer and healthier everyday

My Pilates instructor is away now for 2 weeks, when she comes back I’d love for her to see an improvement in my stamina!

Practice, practice, practice until perfect! This is my promise I make to myself!
